The F.P.I.Face Painting is a wonderful, creative profession. When you hold a mirror to a child's face that has just been painted, it is the most delightful, rewarding feeling seeing their eyes light up. Indeed most parents will take photos of their children when they have their faces painted. Therefore your work can be immortalised in that child's family album!! It's great to be part of a little piece of history? What isn't great is some of the conditions children are being painted in by the uninformed or the low budget painters. This is not necessarily their fault. Most professional painters will admit that they started out by painting their own children or by helping at school fetes, charity fund-raisers, etc. However some practices of face painters nowadays are unacceptable especially with so much information available in books, on the web, and with professional organisations like FACE - The Face Painting Association. This website came together by a group of professional face painters aghast at seeing many below standard face painters putting the health and welfare of children at risk AND some being paid for the privilege. We are not talking about the quality of the faces produced as this can vary dramatically from the school fetes to professional theme parks, and like anything in modern society you get what you pay for! What we are asking for is the basic health and safety protection for the children. As professionals we take huge pride in our work and have strived to build successful businesses. Many are members of FACE, so it breaks our hearts when we see dirty set-ups and dangerous practices. It is unacceptable to use the excuse of being an untrained "volunteer". What other profession would you let volunteers loose on your children?? Hairdressers, dentists, etc On this site you will find enough information for all types of painters - from the school fete mums to those wanting to start a face painting business and, more importantly for the client wanting to hire a face painter. With quick checklists and full information, you can be assured that everything available on this site is from a forum of painters with no hidden agenda other than improving and protecting face painting safety. Take a moment to browse the Set-Up examples, avoid the bad and learn from the good. Thanks for visiting and we hope you enjoy the site. To feedback you comments contact mail@fpi-org.co.uk
